Unica NM FIESTA Project

Statewide support, education, and community connection for foster, adoptive, and kinship families.

Building Connection, Support, and Community for Caregiving Families

NM FIESTA is a free, statewide program that supports foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families across New Mexico. Operated by Unica Adoption Services in partnership with the New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD), NM FIESTA connects caregivers with experienced peers, meaningful support, and educational opportunities that strengthen families and help children thrive.

Whether you’re new to caregiving or have years of experience, NM FIESTA provides a welcoming community where you can ask questions, share experiences, and connect with others who understand your journey.

How We Support Families

Peer Support Groups

Join in-person or virtual support groups led by experienced foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship caregivers. Groups provide a safe, welcoming environment to share experiences, gain practical parenting strategies, learn from others, and build lasting connections with families who understand the unique challenges and rewards of caregiving.

Warm Line

Speak with an experienced peer caregiver who can offer encouragement, answer questions, and connect you with resources throughout New Mexico. The Warm Line provides compassionate, non-emergency support when you need someone who understands.

Community Connection

NM FIESTA brings caregivers together through regional gatherings, support groups, and educational opportunities that reduce isolation, strengthen relationships, and build a network of families supporting one another.

Current Support Group Events

Five men sit in a circle in a casual indoor setting, engaged in conversation. Four of them are facing the man in the striped shirt who appears to be speaking. They all look interested and attentive.
A family of four sits closely together inside a blanket fort, reading a book. Two children are eating popcorn while an adult holds the book open. Soft lighting and blankets create a cozy atmosphere.

Who We Serve

NM FIESTA serves foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families throughout New Mexico. All services are provided at no cost through our partnership with the New Mexico Children, Youth & Families Department (CYFD).

What FIESTA Stands For

F – Family Connection:
FIESTA helps build community and meaningful connections among foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families across New Mexico. Through shared learning, peer support, and welcoming spaces, families can connect with one another, reduce isolation, and strengthen a broader network of care.

I – Information & Resources:
We connect foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families with the resources, referrals, and information they need to successfully navigate their caregiving journey and access the supports available to them.

Our support groups provide education, encouragement, and practical tools to help foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families meet the unique and often complex needs of the children in their care.
